Delivery Drones

Project wings, the project initiated by Google’s parent company called ALPHABET to replace humans with drones to deliver couriers to different places within the city. The project is started in 2014 and will establish over the upcoming years. These drones can also be used to deliver food and essentials to inhabitants in remote villages. Drones will be controlled by stations where these drones are monitored and route maps were drawn for seamless flying for drones. Right now project wing is run by Google X a subsidiary of ALPHABET.

Internet Beaming Balloons

Called “Project Loon”, another ambitious project run by Loon LLC to provide internet access to the highly remote areas without any connectivity options. The project is under development since 2011 by under Google X, later become an independent company in July 2018. The biggest challenge the team faced was to prove that it is possible to create a reliable source that provides high-speed internet to highly remote regions around the globe. The project Loon uses balloons filled with helium and air to take the signal transmitting antennas up to the stratosphere. The balloon is made up of Chloroprene and metalized rubber to make it durable at high altitudes ranging from 18 to 25 miles. These balloons are capable of providing data at 4G LTE speeds. The data signals can be utilized by using special antennas in the ground. Adjustments in altitudes are done by varying the volume of air in the balloon placed inside the big helium balloon. As the volume of air increased and decreases, the balloon goes up and down respectively.

Smart Contact lenses

Alphabet is pursuing contact lenses that are solar-powered and collects biological data about the wearer such as blood pressure, body temperature, blood alcohol content etc. They also have sensors to detect blood sugar levels in tears. Integrating it with IoT it has endless possibilities especially in health science and medical field.

Cancer detecting pills

Google has started designing tiny magnetic particles that can detect signs of cancer and other diseases in the human body. These pills will run around the human body through bloodstream collecting data from different parts of the human body. The project is still in his early stages and requires a few more years of research and tests. These projects come under the Google life sciences department.

Robots

Google has acquired Boston Dynamics to strengthen its Robotics division to the next level. Boston Dynamics jas developed a number of robots inspired by animals to aid in military use. Cheetah robot as they named it is the fastest robot in the world with it’s running speed up to 46 Kilometers per hour. These robots will be deployed to carry ammo, food and water for soldiers involved in wars in future.

Long-Lasting batteries

The only downside of portable gadgets these days is its battery which needs to be charged on regular intervals sometimes frequently based on use. Especially smartphones which have lithium-ion batteries that last barely a day. Graphene has a totally different molecular structure compared to lithium-ions. It has a single atomic layer of carbon with excellent electrochemical properties. Graphene forms a continuous 3D conductive network which improves electron and ion transportation of the electrode materials, thus creates better chemical stability and much more electrical conductivity in a thinner internal construction which can create high capacity batteries around 35% more capable than lithium-ion batteries Graphene batteries charges faster and can last for a week in a single charge.
