How IoT can change the world?

The Internet of Things refers to a group of electronic devices connected to the network and communicating with each other through the network. The sensors in these devices collect data in real-time and share it among the connected devices. Users can customize behaviours and create custom routines based on their preferences. IoT devices are getting better and better over these years and will become part of our day to day life in the upcoming years.

Smart Cities

Higher demand for water and energy is going to be the biggest threat we are going to face in the upcoming years along with air pollution, water pollution and rapid spreading of diseases. Ageing demographics is another issue. Using surround sensors covering the whole city and collecting data about the issues civilians and road users face realtime can be used for effective town planning. Combining it with machine learning and AI can create jaw-dropping results in making the everyday life of people living in large cities.

Even though we have technologies to predict weather and the occurrence of natural calamities, they are not as effective as it should be. So using IoT to collect real-time data about the state of the current situation during such catastrophic events can save hundreds of lives.

Traffic is another issue we face these days. IoT can find a cure for that too. Using sensors placed in towns and vehicles on the road that transmits data among themselves, and these real-time data can be analysed to predict and regulate congestions and even accidents in accident-prone areas within the city.

Driverless Cars and IoT

Real-time traffic management is the only solution for the traffic especially in areas where it is difficult to expand transportation infrastructure. Human error aka bad drivers is the culprits responsible for traffic congestion and road accidents. Autonomous vehicles communicating with other vehicles around the city can reduce traffic to zero by sophisticated routing methods.

In the future, we may not need signal lamps to guide vehicles around the city. Tesla’s autopilot, the AI driving mechanism is an innovative feature if integrated with IoT can revolutionize the way we drive every day.

Animal Farming

The Internet of things can create a big positive impact on farmers around the world. The climate around farming land is crucial for the cultivation of land. Wearables for animals will monitor animal's health and can be used as a tracking device for animals living as hordes. Sensors can also be inserted inside animals to count their food intake, it’s calorie macros and also the health conditions of them as well. Finding spreading diseases beforehand is the best way to save other animals from affecting. Also, these sensors can be used to find the optimum time for breeding and milking the same.

Conclusions

Since these sensors collect so much data it is important for effective storage and indexing of data. Securing all these data are another inevitable thing. An additional layer of security can be obtained by using blockchain technology. But effective infrastructure and high computing power are also a must for effective integration of IoT in our day to day lives.

However, we can be sure that the future is going to be incredible as technologies are evolving at a rapid pace.
